CHECKING-IN

On the day of arrival you are required to phone Total Valencia letting them know you have arrived so a member of their friendly team can greet you outside the apartment. It’s important to remember to carry a roaming sim with you, topped up with sufficient credit if travelling from overseas.

Making the call was quite a funny experience as the person I spoke to couldn’t understand me and said that she only spoke English or Spanish. I was a little taken back by this as I was clearly speaking English but at first she didn’t understand my Australian accent, which we had a good laugh about later.

After initially getting lost and finding ourselves at the back of Valencia Cathedral, we eventually found the apartment located close by in a small lane way. A member of Total Valencia was waiting outside for us to arrive and she took us inside and showed us everything around the apartment.

THE ROOM

The apartment is fully loaded and it’s like you never left home with the facilities including a fully decked out kitchen with dishwasher, oven, fridge and even a washing machine which came in very handy even though it was the beginning of the trip.

To my surprise after we were shown around the apartment we were also given maps of Valencia and she spent a good 15 minutes going through all the attractions and things to do in Valencia, marking them out on the map and giving us recommendations. The service here went above and beyond what I expected it to be; I was expecting to just be handed the keys and left to our own devices.

Total Valencia Blue is in a great location and is easy walking distance to all the main attractions including the Valencia Cathedral which we already found accidentally when trying to find the apartment. Also close by is the main square Plaza del Ayuntamiento where the Town Hall is located and Plaza de la Reina just outside the Valencia Cathedral.

It is also a great base for convenient access to Turia Park and using this to guide your way down to the impressive City of Arts and Sciences at the end of the old River Turia causeway.

As you can tell from the above photos the apartment is truly secluded in the centre of Valencia. It did get a bit noisy at night at some points as the Red Nest Hostel backs onto the lane way, but it wasn’t a big deal and the location was totally worth it alone.

We had a very relaxing two night stay at the Total Valencia Blue apartment. It was a pity that we couldn’t spend the next two nights of our stay in Valencia here while attending the La Tomatina festival, however it would have been a shame to mess up the place with squashed tomato and its juice.

Staying in Valencia was part of travelling along the Busabout Hop-On Hop-Off coach network with the recommended hostel and drop off/pick up point being the Purple Nest Hostel, only a short walk away.
